Material Metamorphosis: Upcycled Earrings

Create your own statement jewellery from reclaimed advertising banners and upcycled leather and textiles.

In this three-hour workshop, participants will be inspired to embrace sustainable practices and rethink discarded materials to create a pair of one-of-a-kind dangle earrings. With a focus on shape, texture, colour and form, you will be guided through the process of designing, layering and constructing their earrings with simple hand tools before attaching sterling silver findings. 

All required tools and materials are supplied, including reclaimed and second hand textiles for constructing pieces, sterling silver earring hooks and waxed cotton cord for creating a necklace/pendant project. Students are also welcome to bring their own soft materials to work with (such as thick fabrics, scraps of leather or plastic sheet).

Participants will complete and take home up to two pairs of earrings (with the option for creating a pendant in place of the second pair), and the knowledge and inspiration to continue creating at home. 

This workshop is suitable for complete beginners.
